The notion of dwelling is considered from a psychoanalytic developmental perspective, as well as its connection to the political dimension of life. The presenter contends that a psychoanalytic portrayal of dwelling should not lose sight of the political-economic realities implicated in experiences of being unhoused, especially when we consider the possibility that climate change, which human beings have caused, is likely to unhouse millions of species, including human beings. Given this, he briefly indicates what this means for psychoanalytic therapy in the Anthropocene Era.

Learning Objectives: After attending the presentation, participants will be able to
– Discuss the attributes of dwelling from a psychoanalytic perspective and its relation to political dwelling.
– Explain how psychoanalytic-political perspectives on dwelling are related to the Anthropocene Age and how this may shape psychoanalytic therapies.

Open to:
NPAP members and candidates I no cost
Non-members I $40

2.0 CE contact hours will be granted to participants with documented attendance and complete evaluation form. It is the responsibility of the participants seeking CE credits to comply with these requirements. Upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to all participants.
