NPAP Fall Continuing Education PROGRAM

The Nightmares of a Nation

Presenter

Jennifer A. Neely, LCSW, NCPsyA

Moderator

Alice Entin, LCSW

Description

This workshop will explore the “social dream,” as we in the United States struggle with a shift from a more libertarian to an increasingly authoritarian government.  We will revisit the theory of dream formation, using The Third Reich of Dreams: The Nightmares of a Nation by Charlotte Beradt (1966) to deepen our understanding of how our social and political lives impact our unconscious and how dreams reveal this. We will seek to answer the questions: “Are our nightmares designed to wake us up? And if so, to what?” Dreams brought in by participants will be discussed and serve as examples on this topic. (Disguise clinical material.)
