Panelists will consider how the sociopolitical impacts psychoanalysis as an institution, a clinical practice, and a body of knowledge. Some of the issues that will be discussed include: psychoanalysis’s disavowed class problem; the ways in which the intersectional issues of class, race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and nationality construct and limit psychoanalytic training; and how analysts can develop creative ways to make psychoanalysis accessible to diverse populations.

Learning Objectives: After attending the presentation, participants will be able to
– Describe the evolution of Freud’s thinking on the accessibility of psychoanalysis.
– Identify ways in which psychoanalysis can access diverse populations.

2.0 CE contact hours will be granted to participants with documented attendance and complete evaluation form. It is the responsibility of the participants seeking CE credits to comply with these requirements. Upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to all participants.
