Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a psychotherapeutic methodology developed for use with patients suffering from the impact of traumatizing events. It has been shown to be effective with individuals presenting symptoms associated with varied traumatic experiences. Research has been conducted with patients presenting post traumatic symptoms resulting from experiences during war, sexual assault, serious accident and similar events. EMDR has been shown to be effective in helping to alleviate individualized responses to these events.

This workshop will present the integration into the psychoanalytic therapy of patients who had experienced the types of trauma mentioned above and were in long term treatment. The impact on the relational matrix of the therapy.

Jeffrey Werden has been in practice for over 30 years as an analyst and analytic therapist. He has served as President of NPAP, control analyst and supervisor for NPAP and other analytic institutes. He is in practice in Manhattan and Westchester N.Y.
