For this year’s master class, we honor Dr. Eli Zaretsky for his contributions to the psychoanalytic community. Dr. Zaretsky will highlight how Freud’s theory of mass psychology represents a unique moment in his oeuvre that describes individuals as essentially object and group related. This lent psychoanalysis to political ends that were otherwise excluded. We look at three moments in the application of psychanalysis to politics: Fascism, the 1960s, and Trumpian populism. This riveting discussion illuminates contemporary psychoanalytic and social concerns.

Learning Objectives: After attending the presentation, participants will be able to
– Describe one way that Freudian theory relates to mass group dynamics.
– Describe one group dynamic found in political movements.

Open to:
NPAP members and candidates I no cost
Non-members I $40

2.0 CE contact hours will be granted to participants with documented attendance and complete evaluation form. It is the responsibility of the participants seeking CE credits to comply with these requirements. Upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to all participants.
