This presentation introduces an appreciation for psychoanalytic group therapy, by exploring the theoretical and clinical differences between an individual (two-person) process and a group (multi-person) process. The discussion will focus on the unique benefits of group therapy by highlighting its capacity to provide a “social environment” and/or “laboratory of social life” that investigates the dynamics and conflicts of human relationships.

Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, participants will be able to
– Describe a significant difference between individual and group therapy practice.
– Discuss the advantage of exploring conflicts in the social environment of a therapeutic setting.
