Each analyst at different times in practice may have had personal crises that could be evident to patients (e.g., illness, grief, or other grave events). In such situations analysts are changed in their capacity to demonstrate neutrality with their patients in the immediate moment. How do clinicians handle their commitment to internal truth, when there is something unspoken in the air? This workshop will address implications for practice from a psychoanalytic perspective.
Learning Objectives: After attending the presentation, participants will be able to
– Describe the concept of neutrality and circumstances that require accommodations to the frame.
– Discuss the patient’s transference when the analyst’s personal crises enter the consulting room.
Open to NPAP members and candidates I no cost
non-members I $30.00
1.5 CE contact hours will be granted to participants with documented attendance and complete evaluation form. It is the responsibility of the participants seeking CE credits to comply with these requirements. Upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to all participants.
