SUNDAY, DECEMBER 3, 2017
Baruch Performing Arts Center
Engleman Recital Hall, 55 Lexington Ave (25th Street)
This dramatic reading honors our matriarchal ancestors, five remarkable female psychoanalysts: Helene Deutsch, Melanie Klein, Anna Freud, Karen Horney, and Marie-Louise von Franz. Each made original contributions, over a span of 10 decades. Each ‘Mother’ was a powerful psychoanalytic thinker with novel ideas and a broad range of theoretical, clinical, and creative possibilities. The historical depiction of their lives is movingly staged.
Learning Objectives: After attending this presentation, participants will be able to
– Discuss the ways the work of these analysts expands the scope of psychoanalysis to include diagnosis and treatment for narcissistic personality disorders and character analysis.
– Describe how each psychoanalyst used their own mothering experience — whether that of loathing, adoration, rejection or ambivalence — to transform the psychoanalytic theory and practice bequeathed by Sigmund Freud.
2.0 contact hours will be granted to participants with documented attendance and complete evaluation form. It is the responsibility of the participants seeking CE credits to comply with these requirements. Upon completion, a Certificate of Attendance will be emailed to all participants.
